Education & Exhibits Coordinator, Frisco Historic Park & Museum

One of my roles at the FHPM is management of the education department I developed, complete with walking tours, adventure tours, and K-12 educational programs. I oversee design, fabrication, and maintenance of exhibits. In addition, I coordinate the Frisco Historic Park & Museum Press along with its book sales and new publications, as well as manage the Frisco Oral History Project.

As Program Supervisor, I developed and facilitated daily STEM programs for the summer camp hosted by the museum. I supervised a staff of four camp counselors, and handled registration payments and parent relations. With this camp taking place during Summer, 2020, I implemented safe COVID procedures and layout while keeping the area fun and friendly to camp attendants.

On the exhibit team at Mackinac State Historic Parks, I designed and fabricated exhibits under construction and maintenance during the winter of 2020. This involved exhibits at Fort Michilimackinac, Fort Mackinac, Mill Creek Discovery Park, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, Mackinac Straits Shipwreck Museum, and Mackinac Island Museum of Native American History at Biddle House.   

As a member of the education department, I designed and facilitated programs for the public and K-12 classes. I was an interpreter in the CMU Museum and the Bohannon One Room Schoolhouse & Gerald L. Poor Museum. I worked on the design, fabrication, and installation of the Kozmic Clash temporary exhibit and the Feel The Music Hands-on Gallery.

Throughout my time at Central Michigan University, I was involved with several historical institutions. 

I conducted and transcribed oral histories for the Michigan PBB Oral History Project, processed and cataloged accessions for the Clarke Historical Library, and carried out historic preservation work on an 1876 courthouse cupola for the Isabella County Historical Society. 

I currently undertake freelance exhibit design and fabrication, as well as give lectures on local history.
